From Hyperallergic:

We all enjoy contemplating and admiring great works of art, but what about making and eating them? A new fundraising initiative from the UK-based nonprofit Art Fund is encouraging people to make art-inspired food creations, and for those who need a guiding hand, the fund offers recipes for a Damien Hirst skull cake, a Jackson Pollock Rice Krispies treat, Wedgewood shortbread, and more.

What artistic snacks can you come up with?

Missing my Hannah

Days like today make me think I should have had more kids. : /

I miss my beautiful, curly-haired Hannah.

She’s at college in Florida, 850 miles away from me. I am blessed that we stay touch almost daily; thank Jesus for emails, texting, cell phones.

But days like today…I just miss her face.

And watching her laugh.

Ugh…

Woke up to a pulled muscle in my back, looks like I’ll be attending church online this morning. :/

Defiant cat riding a horse
This amusing illustration is from a French copy of Reynard the Fox. It shows the scene where Reynart and Tybert the Cat are racing each other. The latter seems to be winning and is sticking out his tongue to spite the fox. What makes the scene even more hilarious is the pointing hand to the left of this scene, drawing attention to it. It appears out of nowhere, through a hole in the parchment. It seems to hurry the animals along.

Perhaps, weary soul, the Lord is doing this to develop your graces. There are some of your graces that would never be discovered if it were not for your trials. Do you not know that your faith never looks as good in summer as it does in winter?

Birth Control & the Bible

I was caught off guard today while having a conversation about birth control. My friend told me that she believes that all birth control is unbiblical, that she is 100% against it’s use. I was floored.

I can see where Christians have major issues with some forms (IUD, morning after pill), but a condom? A diaphragm? Wow.

My friend is Presbyterian. I know there has been uproar in the Catholic Church regarding the use of birth control….but I’ve never heard about any other religions having issue with in, until today.

I guess I subscribe to the view that God controls if/how many kids you have. Whether or not you’re on the pill, or using something else.

Now, my interest is peaked….how do some of you feel about this?
